5 Benefits of Parsley for Dogs

Parsley is a well-known herb that can be grown in every garden. Not only is it beneficial for humans, it is great for dogs, too. Here are some of the major benefits of parsley.

The Benefits:

  • Parsley is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, making it excellent for dogs with arthritis. It is also found to inhibit cancer growth.
  • It is rich in potassium, iron, magnesium, and phosphorous, which can help dogs with anemia. It can strengthen intestinal muscles, which makes it helpful for older dogs.
  • Parsley is diuretic, which is useful for boosting kidney function. It also has antimicrobial and antiseptic properties, which can help dogs with urinary problems; it can clear the urinary track of infections.
  • Its high chlorophyll content makes it beneficial for blood cells. It also makes it a very good breath refresher; it can get rid of bacteria that cause bad breath.
  • You can even treat bee stings with it! Smash a handful of parsley, mix it with a bit of water, and rub it on the area of the sting.

How to Use Parsley and Other Tips:
You can cut fresh leaves into small pieces and mix them in with your dog’s meal: a pinch for small dogs and a teaspoon for big dogs.

You can also make a concentrate parsley tea. It can be used as a treatment for dogs with arthritis, urinary, or gastric issues. Here’s the recipe:

  • Mix a bunch of parsley with 1 liter of boiling water, then cover the pot and let it simmer for three to four hours.
  • Return to low heat and let the mixture simmer for another hour.
  • Let it cool, and then strain out the solid particles.
  • You can freeze the mixture as ice cubes for longer storage, or store in the fridge.

Feed your dog one teaspoon of this concentrate for every 5 kg of his/her body weight.

Do not feed your pregnant dog parsley for it may cause induced contractions.
